Authorship Criteria

Authorship provides both scholarly credit and accountability for the published work. Bulletin of Education and Language (BEL) limits authorship to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and to the preparation of the manuscript. Transparency in reporting individual author contributions is strongly encouraged.

To qualify for authorship, each listed author must have contributed significantly to the work and must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
  2. Drafted the manuscript or critically revised it for important intellectual content.
  3. Approved the final version of the manuscript to be published.
  4. Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to address any questions related to the accuracy or integrity of the manuscript.

Individuals who do not meet these criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged appropriately.

Only one corresponding author is permitted per submission. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript, the authorship order, and the author contribution statements, and for managing all communication with Bulletin of Education and Language before and after publication. Submission of a manuscript implies that all listed authors have agreed to the content, authorship, and submission of the manuscript.

Changes to Authorship

Authors are expected to carefully consider the authorship list and order prior to submission and to provide the final and complete list of authors at the time of initial submission.

Requests for the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors may be considered only before the manuscript is accepted and are subject to editorial approval. Such requests must be submitted by the corresponding author and must include:

  1. A clear and valid reason for the proposed change; and
  2. Written confirmation (email or signed letter) from all authors, including those to be added or removed, confirming their agreement with the change.

Changes to authorship after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances. During the review of such requests, publication of the manuscript may be suspended. If the article has already been published, any approved changes to authorship will be issued through a formal corrigendum.
