Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy

Permanency of Published Content

All articles published in Bulletin of Education and Language (BEL) are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and are permanently available online. BEL is committed to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the scholarly record. When changes to published content are necessary, the journal follows internationally accepted publishing standards and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Corrections to Published Articles

BEL may issue a correction (erratum or corrigendum) to a published article when errors are identified that do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the work. In some cases, the corrected article may be republished in full to address editorial or production-related errors.

Corrections may be issued when:

  1. Minor errors are identified in the article structure, text, tables, or figures;
  2. A limited portion of an otherwise reliable article is found to be misleading due to an honest mistake;
  3. The author list or contributor information is inaccurate (e.g., omission of a deserving author or inclusion of an individual who does not meet authorship criteria).

All corrections will be clearly linked to the original article and transparently documented.

Retraction of Articles

In accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines, BEL may retract a published article when serious ethical, scientific, or legal concerns are identified. Retractions are issued to correct the scholarly record and are not intended as punitive actions against authors.

An article may be retracted if:

  1. There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to major errors, data fabrication, falsification, or image manipulation;
  2. Significant plagiarism is detected;
  3. The work has been previously published elsewhere without proper citation, disclosure, or permission (redundant publication);
  4. The article contains data or materials published without required authorization or consent;
  5. Copyright infringement, defamation, or serious legal issues are identified;
  6. The research violates accepted ethical standards;
  7. The peer-review process was compromised or manipulated;
  8. A significant conflict of interest was not disclosed and is judged to have influenced editorial or peer-review decisions.

Retraction notices will remain permanently linked to the retracted article and will clearly state the reason for retraction.

Article Withdrawal Policy

Before Peer Review

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript within four (4) days of submission without incurring any withdrawal charges.

After Peer Review or During Production

If a withdrawal request is made after peer review, during production, early release, or ahead-of-print stages, a withdrawal fee equal to 30% of the total Article Processing Charge (APC) will apply. The manuscript will be withdrawn only after full payment of the withdrawal fee.

After Acceptance or Publication

If an article is withdrawn after acceptance or publication, and the APC has already been paid:

  1. No refund of the APC will be issued;
  2. Withdrawals requested due to indexing-related concerns are not eligible for refunds.

Withdrawal Request Procedure

To formally withdraw a manuscript, authors must submit an Article Withdrawal Form signed by all authors or by the corresponding author on behalf of all contributors. The form must clearly state the reason for withdrawal and can be obtained from the BEL editorial office.
